Toronto’s Evangeline Rooftop is the City’s Coziest View

Toronto’s Evangeline Rooftop is the City’s Coziest View

An Entrance Worth the Elevator Ride to Evangeline Rooftop

Take the elevator to the top of the Ace Hotel Toronto in King West and the city opens up before you. Evangeline rooftop welcomes you slowly: a room bathed in golden hour light, with cozy low-slung chairs, artfully weathered wood, and skyline views that stretch past the CN Tower. It feels like stepping into the living room of your coolest friend.

The interior design reflects a rich, earthy warmth. Large fireplaces are flanked by brick and sculptural concrete. Sage green and terracotta cushions are paired with vintage-style rugs, warm wood furnishings, and lush greenery. Brutalist columns meet custom geometric light fixtures, while the amber glow of sunset enhances the caramel tones throughout. Inspired by Toronto’s industrial and architectural past and the romance of early cinema, it leans cozy, cosmopolitan, and grounded.

How the Vibe Unfolds

The vibe evolves throughout the evening. At 5pm, it’s a gentle hum with locals gathering for happy hour, hotel guests finishing their day, friends easing into their plans. By mid-evening, the tempo picks up: conversations get louder, cocktails clink over playlists that grow bolder, and the space buzzes with energy. It’s still cozy, but the volume of the night rises with the crowd.

The rooftop balcony becomes its own destination. On warm nights, it’s a favorite perch for sipping and people watching. The breeze off the skyline, the golden glow of sunset, the steady flow of beautiful drinks. It creates a moment you want to stay in.

Dining and Drinks with a View at Evangeline Rooftop

Evangeline’s drink list balances elevated experimentation with crowd-pleasers. Bartenders here know how to read the room, whipping up off-menu non-alcoholic drinks based on your mood or preferences. Standout classics sit alongside seasonal specials and bright, herbaceous creations that mirror the rooftop setting.

The food menu is small but thoughtful—and it rotates, keeping things fresh for regulars and new guests alike. It’s distinct from the lobby bar’s offerings and includes options like oysters, a beautifully assembled charcuterie board, and other elevated small plates. While the beloved coconut cream pie is only available downstairs at the Lobby and Alter, the current dessert offerings continue to impress. It’s food designed for grazing, lingering, and sharing.

What Makes Evangeline Rooftop a Standout Third Place

It isn’t just the cocktails or the view. It’s the way Evangeline makes you feel: cozy, a little glamorous, totally unrushed. You can stop by for one drink or let the evening stretch as long as the conversation flows.

It works as a third place for many Torontonians, somewhere between home and the next thing. Whether you’re visiting for a pre-dinner cocktail, a solo wind-down with skyline views, or a spontaneous meet-up, Evangeline flexes with your mood. Like all great third places, it doesn’t ask for more than you’re willing to give, and gives you more than you expected.

Open year-round, with a city view that never gets old.
